Concept cars that look like they’ve popped right out of the fanciest Hollywood movies don’t shy away from proving their visual worth.  Here in Tokyo, the car expos know how to grab their audiences’ undivided attention.

Nissan’s BladeGlider, with its electric vehicle concept, showed off its beastly set of wheels at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show at Tokyo Big Sight.  Other attractions included a car that looked like a knife, with doors that swing up above, incorporating a driver pod arcade-style, bringing to mind the movie Tron.

Carlos Ghosn, the CEO of Nissan says, “EVs have unique characteristics that open up entirely new design possibilities, possibilities that our industry has yet to fully explore and realize.” True to those words, the BladeGlider gives the driver the sensation of gliding whilst on the roads. This is in part due to the driver’s seat being at the center position, in front of the two seats at the back. Referring to the BladeGlider, Nissan referred to it as a “…prototype of an upcoming production vehicle.”

With this year being it’s in its 80th anniversary other cars unveiled by the automaker included the highly powerful GT-R series – with two of them having 545 horsepower (2014 GT-R) and 600 horsepower (the GT-R Nismo).

On the flipside car manufacturer Toyota featured five offerings which included; the FCV (Fuel Cell Vehicle) Concept, FV2 (Fun Vehicle 2) and a next-generation taxi. These outrageously gorgeous cars proved to have more than just visual appeal; their designs and futuristic concepts (the shape-changing Kawasaki J three-wheel electric motorcycle comes to mind) showed off their power and awe-inducing features, too.

The world has seen a rise in smartwatch recently but the newest by Nissan the Nismo is the most unique as it can help you drive your. Nissan one of the world top car manufacturers is the first to create a smartwatch of this nature. Nissan has designed the Nismo smartwatch specifically drivers of the Nismo cars.

Nismo smartwatch concept was that it would be the first watch to connect driver to their car and provide real-time biometric data. The watch will be on display at Frankfurt Motor Show (10th – 22nd September 2013), so that everyone can take a look and test it out.

 Nissan Nismo smartwatch will allow driver to:

• check the efficiency of their vehicle with average speed and fuel consumption readings;


• access vehicle telematics and performance data while on track;


• capture biometric data via a heart rate monitor;


• connect to the car using a Smartphone app via Bluetooth Low Energy;


• receive tailored car messages from Nissan

 

The reason why Nissan is driving into the smartwatch market is, according to Gareth Dunsmore General Marketing Manager, “Wearable technology is fast becoming the next big thing and we want to take advantage of this innovative technology to make our Nismo Brand more accessible”.

Nismo smartwatch uses the Nissan’s proprietary Social Speed software to track and rate the users’ social performance on site such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.  The Nismo watch was designed to be futuristic with a two button control that allows for easy use and a simple snap-fit mechanism for user to quickly put it on their wrist.

Nismo Smartwatch has lithium battery that is charged via micro-USB and will last Seven days under normal use. The smartwatch will come in 3 colours black, white and flagship black and red.
