SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE 4

SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE 4:

These days, big doesn’t always mean better. But Samsung just quashed this belief by churning out a masterpiece- the Galaxy Note 4. Bigger and better. Its big screen and the controversial S-Pen might be a turn-off for some, but it has created a niche for itself, and those people would definitely love this, albeit it being a pain in their palm, pocket, bank and bag.

SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE 4-2

There are significant improvements right from the design- yes; the sickening plastic feel has lowered a bit, thanks to the premium finish. It’s definitely doing justice to the phablet arena- with its 5.7-inch screen and measuring 153.5 x 78.6 x 8.5mm. Now the crowning glory for this beauty is stellar QHD display with Super AMOLED technology, thanks to the jaw-dropping 515ppi density courtesy the 2560 x 1440 resolution, thrusting it right on top of the big league with the amazing clarity and display which trumps even the full-HD offerings of the iPhone 6 Plus, Nokia Lumia 1520 and the like. Extra- it’s also lighting-sensitive, so you’re guaranteed total legibility in any lighting.

The Galaxy Note 4 runs on Android 4.4.4 KitKat, the latest dessert from Android, and is expected to fully upgrade to Android Lollipop in the future. Another great news- it’s 2014 update to TouchWiz is much more refined, with fewer pre-installed bloatware apps and the redesigned icons that make it look smarter.

It packs in a massive 3220mAh battery which is (gladly) removable, unlike many of its counterparts. On a single, it runs for a whole day really well (moderate to heavy usage), with 20-30% of the juice still left in the tank. Your all-important selfies are in for a gala, thanks to the 16MP lens equipped with a dual-LED flash and OIS, which combats those annoying camera shakes, also letting you shoot great snaps even in dim light by automatically extending exposure time. It even crops up on the lock screen, so say cheese!!!

Powerful Performance

The Galaxy Note 4‘s wide selection of enhanced essential features enable users to get even more from their mobile device. With the Fast Charging feature and Ultra Power Saving Mode, the Galaxy Note 4 charges faster and ensures that users don’t run out of power when they need it most. The Galaxy Note 4 comes equipped with multiple microphones and an improved speaker phone for better noise cancellation when speaking in loud environments. A built-in Voice Recorder offers eight different directional voice tagging and a selective playback capability that allows users to isolate and listen to specific voices in a group conversation.

The Galaxy Note 4 also offers an improved Fingerprint Scanner, to secure personal data and the world’s first UV sensor in a mobile device.

S Pen

Making everyday tasks much faster and easier, the Galaxy Note 4’s S Pen has been specifically evolved to serve as the primary tool that users go to for common, everyday mobile device use. This new S Pen offers a much more authentic pen experience, with a more natural brush effect that perfectly emulates writing on paper with a fountain or calligraphy pen.

Galaxy Note Edge

Samsung’s relentless pursuit of the best in innovation through the optimization of mobile technology and the user experience has led to the debut of the innovative and unique Galaxy Note Edge. Taking the Galaxy Note experience to the next level, the Note Edge provides users with a new way to access information, engage with their mobile device, and express their personality and tastes. The Galaxy Note Edge’s unique curved Edge screen provides quick access to frequently used apps, alerts and device functionality – even when the cover is closed – all with the swipe of a thumb. Users can also receive notifications directly on the Edge Screen while watching videos without disturbing their viewing.

The Galaxy Note 4 is available in “Charcoal Black,” “Frost White,” “Bronze Gold,” and “Blossom Pink” in global markets and the Galaxy Note Edge is available in “Charcoal Black” and “Frost White” in select markets through Samsung’s retail channels, e-commerce and carriers.

GOOGLE NEXUS 6 PREVIEW

GOOGLE NEXUS 6 PREVIEW

The Motorola-made Nexus 6 seems a whale in today’s surreal world where huge is the new normal. Everybody has huge phones and once you hold this phone in your hands, the rest appear too small. No wonder it has been code-named ‘Shamu’.

A Quad HD screen, a powerful Snapdragon 805 processor, a 13 megapixel camera and a battery bog enough to power it all – with all these basic specs, this piece just looks like an over-sized Moto X. The only visual difference is the nexus logo stamped at the back and the slightly lower positions of the power and volume buttons accounting for the larger size.

The latest version of Android that’s Android 5.0 Lollipop with battery optimizations’ and security enhancements give this phone a thumbs up. Not just that, the camera is surrounded by an attractive ring flash that would produce an evenly-lit and awesome image.

Wondering if the huge screen packed with all those pixels could drain out the battery? Well, Thankfully the Nexus 6 comes with a large 3220mAh battery with an efficient processor, AMOLED screen and battery optimization. It is expected that the phone lives throughout the day with moderate to heavy usage experience.

The super-speedy multitasking and notifications option is cool. The face unlock too, seems to work well. Other attractive features include Turbocharging that charges your battery in 15mins and another that uses NFC pairing and then Bluetooth to transfer all the contents of your old Android into your new one.

It looks like this gigantic phone is all set to have a roaring success.

Samsung Galaxy Alpha Preview

Samsung Galaxy Alpha Preview:

Alright, we all know the Samsung Galaxy Alpha looks a lot like the iPhone 4, especially at the rims and edges. But this is also the first time that Samsung is incorporating metal into its manufacturing. But its tryst with metal ends at the borders; the back of the Galaxy Alpha reminds you that you’re operating a Samsung product. It’s a laudable first attempt, with the sleek, elegant body which is very comfortable to navigate and handle even in a single hand. At 6.7mm, it may not be the thinnest phone out there, but the very slim build and the 4.7” display are very impressive. The ergonomics are brilliant in this one, with the intelligent use of both metal and plastic that facilitate easier handling, and even the perk of the little-finger slot is pretty neat.

01_SM-G850F_011_blue

The display is a 4.7” screen which might look a bit low when compared to its peer, both within Samsung and outside of it. But it feels perfect, providing a very good experience with reading, games, pictures and videos without compromising on usability. But the touchy point here is the display of just 720p, which looks a little unfair for the high price tag. It might seem a bit drab in relation to other players, but, for this screen size, this display feels very satisfactory and gives us sharp, vivid images and texts.

<iframe width=”640″ height=”360″ src=”//www.youtube.com/embed/u8OZoyHvX78″ frameborder=”0″ allowfullscreen></iframe>

In case you’re looking for a major software overhaul to match the ergonomic enhancement, you’re going to be let down big time. The Alpha still runs on TouchWiz UI with Android 4.4.4 KitKat. It’s adequate, but not excellent. But Samsung has upgraded its software layout, making this the most spontaneous UI yet.

The Galaxy Alpha also includes innovative and popular features such as Ultra-Power Saving Mode, S Health, Finger Print Scanner, Private Mode and connectivity with the latest Samsung Gear Fit, Gear Live and Gear 2 wearables.  It will be available in Charcoal Black, Dazzling White, Frosted Gold, Sleek Silver, and Scuba Blue, with available colors to be determined by market.

The 1860mAh battery is pretty frail, especially in comparison to the other modern power-tanks out there. However, with careful usage and the Ultra power-saving mode, you’re sure to look at a nice level of charge in the box.The verdict: if you’re a moderate user with a craving for great ergonomics, go for it.

Nikon D810 Preview

Nikon D810 Preview:

The D810 is a digital SLR camera that boasts incredibly superior definition and image quality made possible with a new Nikon FX-format CMOS sensor with no optical low-pass filter, adoption of the latest EXPEED 4 image-processing engine, an effective pixel count of 36.3-million pixels, and a standard range of sensitivities from ISO 64 to ISO 12800. Not only does it offer extremely accurate AF, but vibrations generated inside the camera have been reduced to maximize the resolution of its 36.3-million pixels for sharp and clear images. The camera also supports recording of smooth, extremely sharp 60p full-HD (1920 x 1080) movies. What’s more, high-speed continuous shooting at up to 5 fps with the FX-format image area and up to 7 fps* with the DX-format image area is possible for excellent response to a wide variety of scenes.

The D810 delivers a truly cinematic experience with a wide range of professional-oriented features a Full HD 1920 x 1080 video capture at a variety of frame rates, including 60/30/24p.

It’s been more than two years since Nikon launched its successful D800 and D800E which whipped up a storm in the entire photography sector with the revolutionary high resolution 36.3MP full-frame sensor. Now, Nikon has unveiled the new D810 which not just combines its predecessors but also comes loaded with enhancements in aesthetics and functionality.

D810_50_1.4.low

The image quality of the D800, D800E and D810 are not all that different, but the D810 is incorporated with a base ISO of 64. It’s a major overhaul from the ISO of 100, because it means a solid change in the hardware and not just a software update. It also translates into more dynamic range, which takes the D810 a notch higher than its predecessors. Here’s a kicker: the D810 allows you to manually reduce the ISO down to a staggering 32 when you need it, which thrusts it into the top place in modern DSLRs that offer you the chance to modify the ISO to below 50.

But the best enhancement is probably the EXPEED 4 processor which is 30% faster. It enables lightning fast focus lock and seamless capture of moving objects, which in turn implies faster frame rate for stills and videos. The difference is stark and very much welcome.

You’re going to be floored about the total upheaval of the mirror design and shutter mechanisms, which greatly reduces the camera noise and shutter vibration. In what can be termed as an unprecedented technicality, Nikon has introduced another feature called Electronic Front Curtain Shutter, which wholly eliminates any hints of shutter vibrations.

With this D810, Nikon even allows you to change the color balance of the LCD screen to any hue of your choice. This takes care of the previous complaints of a greenish tinge. Also, the heightened LCD resolution results in sharper, more vibrant pictures. The ergonomics are also significantly improved, resulting in added handling ease and comfort in the long run.

Apple iPhone 6 Preview

Apple iPhone 6 Preview:

Just like every year, the launch of another iPhone had held the attention of techies and mobile enthusiasts. But this time it had a bit more edge, for Apple had released an iPhone which was ‘big.’

The ergonomics are taken to another level with this classy block of metal and glass. It’s no doubt the slimmest iPhone, and also defies its real weight-126g- by feeling exceptionally light. The way the 8MP camera captures moments is just sterling, with vibrant colours and detailed images, owing to the wider aperture and lightning-fast focus lock. You can now manually set the exposure.

iPhone 6 is Apple’s biggest advancement in iPhone history, featuring a stunning 4.7-inch Retina HD display, and packed with innovative technologies in an all-new dramatically thin and seamless design.

The winner feature, however, is the display. At 1334 x 750 pixels, the resolution is pretty great, if not on par with the insane QuadHD resolutions of today’s Android phones. The 4.7” screen also provides great viewing angles and good legibility even in sunlight. It’s versatile for all kinds of activities- photography, gaming, work, and reading.

Driven by the dual-core 64-bit A8 processor, iPhone 6 pulls off a stellar performance on a sustained level. In spite of the stingy 1GB RAM, the phone does not lag. The battery is also very long-lasting, leaving some juice in the tank even after a turbo run on the phone. The call quality is also great, with not even a single dropped call in sight.

The M8 motion coprocessor can continuously measure your motion data, even when the device is asleep, saving battery life for fitness apps that use the sensors all day.

iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus introduce Apple Pay, an easy way to securely pay for physical goods and services in stores or apps with just the touch of a finger.

The FaceTime HD camera now captures over 80 per cent more light with a new sensor, larger f/2.2 aperture and advanced new features including burst mode and HDR video.

iOS, the latest Apple platform, is what runs the iPhone 6. With improved performance and bug fixes, it has also added support for inter-app communication. The keyboard is also slightly different in the landscape mode with several more options. Continuity and Reachability are added features, where the former enables communication between iPhone and other Apple products like iPad and Macbook. Even Siri works more efficiently with a higher recognition of Indian accents and with the new “Hey Siri” command a higher level of touchless control is attained.

iPhone 6 comes in gold, silver or space grey, and will be available in the UK for a suggested retail price of £539 (£449.17 ex VAT) for the 16GB model, £619 (£515.83 ex VAT) for the 64GB model and, for the first time, a new 128GB model for £699 (£582.50 ex VAT).

Bottom line: if you can afford it, get it. The iPhone 6 is one of the best your money can buy.

Apple Watch first view

Apple Watch first view:

Apple’s first wearable gear is finally here. It can’t exactly be bifurcated into a man or a lady’s watch; it’s unisex. This was probably aimed at the people who want to be trendsetters, since the smartwatch market is yet to make a mark on its own. The Apple watch comes in six different styles with two sizes for each style. The design leans slightly towards the bulkier/ chunkier side but it still feels unique and that’s the whole point at the moment.

Apple has trumped the other players in the smartwatch market by coming with a one-of-a-kind interface. First things first- the app home screen doesn’t look like the iPhone layout even a little bit. It is more of a spherical design, which is going to need some acquaintance before you can work effortlessly on it because the tapping is very specific. The digital crown is basically a wheel having a very smooth response (no clicks) that enables you to zoom in and out of apps, giving it a very neat twist from the usual lines. In case you need to go back to the home screen, an inward tapping on the crown would do, but that’s not your only option because you have the touch screen as well. Once you get the hang of hitting at the right places, you’re good to go.

There is another button below the crown that takes on the dual role of taking you to your contacts list and also stimulating the payment options on the watch. You can make / receive calls, scan messages to try creating a simple response, draw and share pictures (yep), or a pre-determined vibration code with a contact.

It also taps the health domain by letting you send a heart rate image to a contact by touching the screen using two fingers. So it borrows a page from both fitness and fashion, opening up new market segments. But a small let down can be the need to flick it upwards to turn it on. The charger is a unique component that attaches itself to the back of the watch with magnets. Let’s see if this one penetrates the market.

Apple Watch is most personal device ever form Apple featuring revolutionary new technologies and a pioneering user interface with a beautiful design that honors the rich tradition of precision watchmaking. Apple Watch will enable you to communicate in new ways right from your wrist by sending and receiving messages, answering calls to your iPhone, and with Digital Touch, sending something as personal as your own heartbeat. Apple Watch also introduces comprehensive health and fitness apps that can help people lead healthier lives. Apple Watch is available in three distinct collections—Apple Watch, Apple Watch Sport and Apple Watch Edition.

Apple Watch comes in three distinct collections—Apple Watch, Apple Watch Sport and Apple Watch Edition—available in two different sizes, 38 mm and 42 mm. The beautifully designed and durable enclosures are crafted from custom alloys of polished or space black stainless steel, space gray or silver anodised aluminium and 18-karat rose or yellow gold.

ACER ASPIRE SWITCH 12

ACER ASPIRE SWITCH 12 with 5 modes:

The Acer Aspire Switch 12 is a two in one device designed with multiple modes of usage in one notebook. It has a detachable keyboard lock and has a new magnetic latch and hinge which lets the tablet be attached in one of the two orientations. These orientations lead to four different use modes. They are the traditional Notebook mode, Tablet mode, Tent mode, Display mode and Desktop mode

The back of the tablet is classic and is covered in aluminum that has a grey silvery finish with crisscrossing brushstroke that looks quite impressive. The 10.1 inch screen is covered in Gorilla glass 3 and it has a five-point touch. There is a 1920 x 1080 resolution image capture webcam located just above the screen. It runs on Intels latest Core-M platform, featuring an Intel Core M-5Y10a as a processor.Although it works well for Skype chats and Google Hangouts, it is not well suited to handle bright light. Also it doesn’t have a rear facing camera. It weighs 1.5 pounds, making it easily portable.

Acer-Aspire-Switch-12-SW5-2

If you combine a vibrant 12.5-inch display with the docking keyboard, then it weighs 2.8 pounds and is 0.9 inches thick when closed. Users can also enjoy its 10-point touch controls on a larger screen and use an optional Acer Active Pen1 for a more intuitive writing and drawing experience. Although the keyboard is a bit cramped, the comfortable keys, wide click pad and the integrated left and right buttons all give the user a smooth typing experience.

Almost all of the ports and the connections are located on the tablet itself. There is a micro SD slot, micro HDMI-out port and a micro USB 3.0 port on the right edge. Headset jack and volume and power buttons adorn the left hand side. It sports dual band WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of SSD storage. A battery run down test was performed and it lasted for about 7 hours 39 minutes, which is quite decent.

This is a safe purchase for someone who wants a portable Windows tablet without compromising on the productive capability of the design. The Acer Aspire Switch 12 is expected to land in the UK this December starting at £529.

APPLE iPAD MINI 3

APPLE iPAD MINI 3:

The Apple iPad mini 3 or should we call it the iPad mini 2 with Touch ID and a new color? Hard to say. This one’s pretty much the very same spin-off of the last year’s tablet with a more secure Touch ID and this time it comes in gold too. It’s not even a budget option, considering it crossed its predecessor’s range with almost the same technology. But let’s look at its pluses-

Apple is right to be so proud of its breakthrough Touch ID. It is slicker than ever with the new iPad mini 3. This perfect biometric sensor could be set up in seconds and long-pressing the Home button unlocks your tablet securely. It’s also adaptable to all kinds of orientations so no worries if you’re going to hold up your tablet upside down. Even more- Touch ID APK too has been incorporated into iOS 8, enabling developers to score brownie points for enhancing security for their apps. We don’t know for sure how far Apply Pay is going to go…yet. So once it is embraced by many more retailers out there, so the future of exploiting the Touch ID is still a question mark.

APPLE iPAD MINI 33

With a massive storage of 128GB and the Retina display of 1536 x 2048 resolution (cropping up again, but that’s a pleasure), the design and display look quite brilliant. Oh even the design is the same as iPad mini 2, measuring 200 x 134.7 x 7.5 mm and 331g. It comes with a supposed battery life of 10 hours for multimedia but that excludes gamers. Oops.

The interface is very stable, with very little in the way of crashes or lags. The iOS 8.1 works as well here as it does on the iPhone range, but with these added features, the stability and usability are even better.

SAMSUNG GEAR LIVE

SAMSUNG GEAR LIVE:

The Samsung Galaxy Gear is one of the first Android wear Smartwatches. Samsung is known for its various technological advances and outcomes and hence not surprisingly, this is its fourth attempt at a Smartwatch, only after Galaxy Gear, Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo. It focuses on hardware while Google focuses on software. If you are looking for a sleek, decent Android wear, then this is definitely the way to go.

This model is inspired by the Samsung Gear 2. The smooth, black, plastic watch straps can be swapped and it is water and dust resistant (IP67 certified). There is a single home button on the right edge that is used to turn the device on or off. There is no camera or an infrared blaster. It weighs 59 grams and is 8.9mm thick. It is light and slimmer than LG’s Android Wear Smartwatch.

It is technologically as well as physically comfortable to wear this watch. The watch’s interior is curved slightly so that it sits intrinsically on the wrist. This is one of the best Android wear out there. The display is vibrant, bright and clear with majestic colours and sharpness. Whether it is tablets or Smart watch screens, Samsung deserves applause when it comes to display.

This device has an accelerometer, digital compass, gyroscope and a heart rate sensor incorporated in it. The green flash lighting of the sensor against your skin provides the reading of the heart rate. There are no apps to support videos in Android wear. As for images, the resolution is not completely optimised and there is a bit of a problem with sharpness and clarity. The main setbacks are its low battery life and its compatibility with only newer Android devices. It is also harder to read in sunlight.

SAMSUNG GEAR VR

SAMSUNG GEAR VR:

The Samsung Gear VR (Virtual Reality) is South Korean’s strive to bring virtual reality to the masses. This device looks sleeker than the Oculus Rift, and well, it’s more like a finished product.

The Samsung Gear VR delivers an unrivaled viewing experience with the 5.7 inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display of the Galaxy Note 4 providing stunning and engaging visuals at a mobile-leading resolution. With the Gear VR Innovator Edition, users can sit in the best seat of a theater, can be on-stage of a performance with full 360 3D video, and can enjoy gaming like it’s never been seen before – inside the stunning worlds where imagination becomes reality. Samsung’s industry leading Super AMOLED display technology and cutting-edge Oculus-driven technologies fuse to create an experience that surprises and delights – all on a mobile device.

Some users said it felt comfortable for about 10minutes but it was slightly heavy in the front, owing to the weight of the Note-4 that is fitted into it. The adjustable bands and thick padding at the back makes sure that it is competent for long term use.

The Note-4 is placed in front of the optical lenses that can be adjusted with a dial on the top panel. On the right hand side are the navigating menus, touchpad and back button. As for the speakers, you will want headphones or if you are going cable free, then you can use Bluetooth. The Snapdragon 805 processor of Note-4 did not produce any lag in the 360 degree video game.

Some users also said that they did not experience any motion sickness. They played a “Cyclops “style game in which they had to navigate a space ship by moving their head, aimed with their eyes and shooting was done by tapping the touchpad located in the side of the headset. The VR will be compatible with all Android Bluetooth controllers for more complex games. They tried various other demos and noted that the accelerometer did a pretty good job in following their head turns. Gamers might be disappointed to know that Samsung Gear VR does not have the 3D motion tracking of Oculus Rift. But users said they had a good experience with it, especially considering the fact that it is powered completely by a portable device.

Built with soft, flexible cushioning and lightweight materials, the Samsung Gear VR is comfortable to wear. It is completely wireless, so users can be fully engaged in virtual worlds without being tethered to a computer. The Samsung Gear VR will be available in Frost White through the Samsung online channel and selectively by carriers this year.

LG G PAD 7.0 REVIEW

LG G PAD 7.0 REVIEW

The Android powered LG G Pad 7.0 is famous for its price tag and satisfactory specs. Who would want to miss such an affordable tablet with decent performance and stats?

It runs on Android 4.4.2 KitKat with LG’s Optimus software on top. A vivid 7 inch 1280×800 screen, excellent audio quality and an outstanding battery life is all it provides at a reasonable rate of around $150. The G Pad comes with 8GB internal memory which can be expanded to 32GB with a micro SD card.

Apart from the standard apps, this tablet provides interesting apps like the Qpair that helps you sync your Android mobile with the pad, QuickRemote that turns your pad into a programmable remote for your TV and cable boxes and QuickMemo+ where you can save reminders, weather and location data. The Optimus skin introduces unique changes to the Android user interface. The pad boasts a pretty perfect color accuracy and saturation, although its color spectrum is comparatively limited.

The split screen mode allows you to work on two windows simultaneously and is an added advantage. LG has provided certain additional changes like the fourth virtual menu button at the bottom right corner, QSlide bar in the notifications drawer which helps in launching select apps and KnockOn that wakes up the tablet when you tap the display twice.

LG Pad 7.0 will be equipped with LG’s signature security feature, LG Knock Code ™, a new way of waking and unlocking mobile devices

That one factor causing disappointment is the camera quality. Images are grainy without much detail, especially in the close-up pictures. On the positive side, it has got epic battery life that beats all its competition. So if you wante one long-lasting Android tablet, this one seems a fine choice!

Key Technical Specs Include:

MOTOROLA DROID TURBO REVIEW

MOTOROLA DROID TURBO

The new XLTE-ready Motorola Droid Turbo is a monster smartphone that combines power, durability, intelligence and affordability. Okay, so the leaks beat us all, giving us some of the best looks ever (or should we say sneak-peek?) into the manufacturer’s latest offering- Motorola Droid Turbo. Oh it looks as tough as the name, that’s for sure. It in fact looks absolutely burly, effortlessly stealing the spotlight as one Motorola’s most powerful devices yet.

The display is going to be stellar, thanks to the colossal 5.2-inch QHD 2560 x 1440 touch screen. DROID Turbo has a 21-megapixel camera with 4K video capture and features a 5.2-inch Quad HD display meaning you will want to show off your photography to friends any chance you can whether it be in person or on social media. The interface is going to be (no prizes for guessing) Android, but the configurations put up a mean show with the QualComm Snapdragon 805 chipset with a 2.65GHz quad-core CPU.

The DROID Turbo is designed with all that in mind with its Ballistic Nylon or Metalized Glass Fiber reinforced with DuPont™ Kevlar® fiber, scratch-resistant Corning® Gorilla® Glass 3, and water-repellent nanocoating protecting the inside and out against spills. That means your phone is not going to go into deep pondering every five minutes. The working is going to be butter-smooth, with absolutely no signs of lags or crashes. Sounds like a dream, doesn’t it?

The 3GB RAM further asserts the smoothness of the functionality with a go-getter memory. Even the storage is eye candy- 32GB. It’s almost always advisable to have a little more storage (in this case the little is crossed out) than what you might actually need, because you never know when you’ll need all the space. The massive 3900mAh battery is certain to make sure that a significant level of juice remains in the tank even after a marathon of multimedia, gaming and working.

But here’s the real kicker- the Droid Turbo’s Camera. It’s alleged to have a staggering 21MP rear shooter with dual-LED flash, meaning that your selfies are going to win the clarity game effortlessly, with pin-sharp focus and glorious lighting.

That “low battery” alert is something many of us dread, and it usually happens at the worst times. DROID Turbo has a battery that lasts up to 48 hours, so that means it’ll be a while before you see that low battery alert.

Eventually, the alert will appear,   but it might be at a time when you don’t have the time to do a full charge of your phone. Only having a few minutes before heading out with friends, layovers in between flights, and many other countless scenarios – we’ve all been there.

The new DROID comes with a turbo charging feature so when you’re low on battery, a 15 minute charge can get you up to 8 hours of use. DROID Turbo comes with the Motorola turbo power charger in the box at no additional cost. And for added convenience, the new DROID is wireless charging capable.

So what does a tough phone require? Yeah, tougher protection. The Droid Turbo takes care of this too, packing a scratch-resistant metallized glass fibre body along with a Gorilla Glass 3 screen and a Kevlar-reinforced back panel, meaning it’s going to strike a chord with those butterfingers out there too. It’s also alleged that the Droid Turbo is splash-proof, meaning it’ll be able to combat 20 minutes of downpour. Wow.

So let’s wait for the real deal while we obsess over leaked pictures. Fingers crossed!

GOOGLE PROJECT ARA

GOOGLE PROJECT ARA

A smartphone exclusively for six billion people. That’s what Google declares, as it continues work on what might be a revolutionary milestone in the journey of smartphones. The manner in which smartphones are assembled, designed, and used is about to undergo a huge overhaul if Google succeeds in making this “modular” mobile phone a feasible reality.

Project Ara is the codename for a venture by Google aiming to build a free, open hardware platform for creating highly modular smartphones that are assembled into metal endoskeletal frames (endos). These metal frames are the only components in the smartphone that is going to be manufactured by Google, acting as the switch to the on-device network linking all the modules together. The modules are going to be completely according to the choice of the user, for instance, a keyboard, display or an extra battery. This project seeks to significantly reduce electronic waste and ensure a longer life span for the handsets by enabling users to swap out malfunctioning modules or upgrade individual modules as innovations emerge.

GOOGLE PROJECT ARA components

Google’s target market for Project Ara encompasses not just 1 billion smartphone users but also the 5 billion feature phone users, paving the way for the entry of hundreds of thousands of developers and not just a handful of big players; anyone will be able to build a module without having to require a licence or paying fee. Modules can provide the usual smartphone utilities like camera, speakers, etc. and also more specialized features, and are secured with electropermanent magnets.

Google intends to sell a starter kit with billed materials worth $50 and comprising of a frame, display, battery, low-end CPU and Wi-Fi. The frames come in three sizes- mini (45 x 118 x 9.7 mm), medium (68 x 141 x 9.7 mm) and large (91 x 164 x 9.7 mm) with rear module slots of 2 x 5, 3 x 6 and 4 x 7 respectively. Each one of these frames is expected to cost around $15.

Now let’s sit back and watch a revolution unfold.

Apple iPhone 6 Plus review

Apple iPhone 6 Plus:

The iPhone 6 Plus is a 5.5” Retina HD giant iPhone that stunned us all; with the biggest redesign since the iPhone history and entry in the phablet world, big screens is the new trend.

Display:

The phone is big, but that’s the whole point of the iPhone 6 Plus; so the display is all that you really need to know about. It boasts of a full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 and also a 401 PPi, so it’s an effortless winner when it comes to clarity. Also, should a crowd gather around the screen, everyone can still have a great visual experience because the LED-backlit display has remarkable viewing angles, courtesy dual-domain pixels of Apple. The display has everything that smartphone users seek for. Smooth, captivating mobile experience- legibility in both bright and dull conditions, combating reflection, as well as tilt-adaptability. Also, this handset brought home the title of having ‘the best performing smartphone LCD display ever.”

Reachability:

Apple seeks to prove with this phone that size and ease are not inversely related. The usual navigation which involved exiting an app (home button) and opening a new one (top tap) was not that fussy in its previous models, but the very same operations require some big time hand-shuffling in this. But Apple attempts to nullify this drawback by introducing ‘Reachability’, where a double tap on the home key would bring the top portion of the display to the middle. But this feels unpleasant, almost looks like there’s a glitch in the system, thanks to the big black block in the void which could have been put to better use. Think multi-window.

Design and performance:

Measuring 158.11mm x 77.8mm x 7.1mm, it weighs 172g even though it looks impossibly thin. It’s undisputedly the best-looking phablet available, as it radiates class and style. The grip isn’t that great owing to the flat, brushed metal rear. The Sapphire crystal glass is a terrific shield for any breakages. The 8MP rear camera comes with just a handful of options, keeping it clutter-free. This is exactly what many look for- take superb images with little fuss. It also has a 1.2MP front HD clicker.

The M8 motion coprocessor can continuously measure your motion data from the accelerometer, gyroscope, compass and the new barometer, even when the device is asleep, saving battery life for fitness apps that use the sensors all day. The motion data from M8 appears in the Health app so you can see how many flights of stairs you’ve climbed, or how far you’ve walked or run.

iPhone 6 Plus users will also benefit from optical image stabilisation technology that compensates for hand shake in low light andiSight camera gets even better with a new sensor featuring Focus Pixels for faster autofocus, making it easier to quickly capture any moment.

Sony QX1 review

Sony QX1

Sony’s QX1 and QX10 digital cameras introduced a new and reasonably unusual idea into the marketplace. They seem similar lenses that you would fit onto a camera body, but they actually make a sensor stacked in. They’re fashioned to seize to your smartphone and communicate with it wirelessly, meaningful that the phone book as the camera’s covering to create your somebody.

QX1_phone_up_RGB_LR

It seems similar a crazy conception, but apparently they established general enough for Sony to screw it one-step further and display the QX1. Here we soul an APS-C sorted sensor and an E-mount so that you can interchange the lenses on the object.

Sony QX1

To covenant with your phone there’s built-in Wi-Fi and an NFC splintering. Images may be transferred to the phone or stored on a Micro SD roster installed in the Sony QX1. Different preceding cameras in the QX straddle, the camera can now administer in raw initialize. This agency that photographers retain greater skillfulness over images in post-production than before.

Using a fire from the E-mount method, Sony claims that the QX1 is open of actuation around 440 shots from a exclusive criminate. As you’re relying on your sound to control the camera, it’s couturier noting that your phone’s shelling story is also something to endure into benignity. You can engrossment and inclose with the Sony QX1 independently of a phone, but you won’t be healthy to see what you’re photographing.

Controls

Controlling the camera is achieved via the Sony PlayMemories app – a released download for both iOS and Robot. There’s a twain of remaining third-party apps which consent you to use the camera with them, but with most of the touristed ones, such as Instagram, you can’t.

The PlayMemories app brings a number of incompatible shooting modes, but crucially stuffed drill restrain isn’t lendable. Aperture antecedence and shutter antecedence are though, if you essential to bed the age of moderate yourself. ISO sentience ranges from ISO 100 – 16,000. HTC Desire Eye

HTC Desire Eye

This phone is perfect for all those selfie-obsessed people and has put the camera at the absolute forefront. It has the same 13MP camera lens on the front as well as the back, and the whopping front camera is the first thing you would notice. Bad selfies are now a thing of the past!

HTC Desire Eye 2

The design and build quality is darn impressive, in its smooth plastic curves and colorful trim, though it looks like the Desire 820. The visual changes are in the front-facing legendary speakers that now appear above and below the 5.2inch (1080×1920) Full HD screen in thin recessed speaker grills. Noise cancellation system and three microphones are packed in the Desire Eye.

There is a dedicated shutter button present below the power button on the right, and the phone comes with IPX7 rating so that you can shoot pics under water. Isn’t that cool? The back panel is made of plastic and the battery is non-removable. There are little covers over the nano SIM or micro SD slots that are unusually hinged, and we assume it’s needed due to the water resistance. HTC’s efforts in keeping the camera lenses flush, that is not sticking out absurdly is well lauded and options like photo booth, Crop-Me In, and Split Capture modes are a great boost that can give you surprisingly hilarious results. The modes are supported with video recording too, but may not be that versatile.

Beyond the camera section, there’s not really too much to report about the Desire Eye that you haven’t seen before. This phone is not far from a flagship internally!

The HTC Desire EYE is one of the best front-facing cameras available on the market today, and software that puts you center frame and looking your best. The HTC Desire EYE captures life’s big and small moments in perfect clarity. Sporting market-leading 13MP front and rear cameras for detailed image quality that allows you to zoom, crop and print without compromise, the    HTC Desire EYE is fully equipped for those who love to take great photos, videos and selfies. BSI sensors capture crisp photos, even in low-light conditions, and intelligent dual-LED flash on both cameras provides flattering, natural tones when ambient light levels drop further.

Three dedicated microphones take HTC’s signature audio quality to even greater heights, ensuring crystal clear voice and video calling whatever is going on around you.

HTC BoomSoundand a stunning 5.2” Full HD display combine to make the HTC Desire EYE the ultimate multimedia companion and the perfect way to view your photos and videos.

The bold, bright, dual-color, waterproof unibody design is not only stylish but ensures that capturing your best side is as simple as possible, with a dedicated two-step camera key for focus, and capture providing comfortable, instant access to great shots, even one-handed.

Featuring HTC’s new HTC EYE Experience and Zoe, with a Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 801 processor and high-speed 4G connectivity, editing and sharing your best shots will also be smooth and effortless, wherever you are.
