Nigerian Breweries' Heineken buys 5 more breweries in Africa...

Heineken, the world's third-biggest brewer, has acquired controlling interests in five breweries in Nigeria, expanding its capacity by nearly a third in the fast-growing African market.

The deal brings 3.7million hectolitres of extra capacity to the company, the largest brewer in western Europe.

Heineken has been increasing its presence steadily in faster-growing developing economies, notably with last year's purchase of the beer business of Mexico's Femsa.
Heineken said it had bought two holding companies from drinks and packaging group Sona, Nigeria, for an undisclosed amount.
It has a capacity of about 12million hectolitres in Nigeria.
