Top Mobile Brands at the MWC 2013


The most exhilarating mobile industry event of the year is the MWC {Mobile world Congress} was held in Barcelona. The show was an opportunity for most major mobile electronics brands to display their new products and services. Take a look at the brands that displayed some new stunning mobile gadgets at the show.
1. ZTE: ZTE came to MWC 2013 with its ZTE Grand Memo smartphone which is already available in China and schedule to debut in Europe sometime in the second quarter of 2012. The phone is equipped with a 5.7-inch screen and a 4G LTE capacity. ZTE is gaining a global audience as it’s the world’s 4th largest mobile phone manufacturer.

2. Sony: The Xperia Z Tablet is a tablet from Sony designed in the image of the Xperia Z smartphone. It is claimed to be the thinnest tablet in the market with 10.1-inch 1920x1200pixel WUXGA screen, it weighs 495g with a 6.9mm thickness. It’s powered by a 1.5 GHz quad core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, 2GB RAM and 8×2 MP back & front camera. This tablet will set you back by £500 considering its both water and dust resistance. Sony was well represented at the MWC 2013.

3. Samsung: Samsung came to MWC with series of new mobile device for different target markets, ranging from the Galaxy Fame, Galaxy Grand, Galaxy Xcover, Galaxy Young and Galaxy Note 8.0. The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is one that caught our eye which is a tablet with a touch pen. This tablet is very easy to carry and it’s designed for those who prefer to writing over typing on a tablet screen. This is a magnificent tablet from Samsung but we think the £280 price is expensive considering other competing products in the market like Nexus and iPad Mini.

4. Nokia: Nokia displayed a range of phones at the event but its Nokia Lumia 720 stood out. This beautiful 4.3-inch Windows 8 smartphone has a 1GHz dual-core processor and a 6.7-MP camera. It joins the range of the Nokia Windows OS smartphone like Lumia 820, 520, and 920.

5. Mozilla: Mozilla displayed two new mobile devices known as Keon and Peck that will run its new HTML 5-based Firefox OS. The Keon will be fitted with 3.5-inch HVGA screen powered by a 1GHz, 3MP camera and a 4GB internal memory. The Peck will have a 4.3-inch screen, powered by a 1.2GHz Snapdragon S4 processor, 8MP camera and 4GB internal memory. The Keon will retail for about £80 while Peck will be about £130.

6. Motorola: The Motorola Razr HD is a smartphone that runs on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean OS, equipped with a 4.7-inch 720p display and a 1.5 dual-core processor. It will cost you about £400 which makes it’s expensive.

7. LG: LG was represented by LG Optimus Vu II which is thinner than the Optimus I. Optimus II has a 5-inch 4:3 display touch screen, 8 by 1.3 MP rear & front camera, 1.5 dual-core processor, updated Android 4.0 Ice cream, 2GB RAM, 64GB internal memory and an expandable micro SD card slot.

8. Lenovo: The IdeaTab S6000 is a 10 inch tablet owned by Lenovo. It’s has a 10-inch, 1280 x800 pixel display, powered by a 1.2 GHz MediaTek MTK8389 quad-core processor.

9. Huawei: The Huawei Ascend P2 has been claimed as the world’s fastest smartphone. This slim, light phone comes in black and white with a 4.7-inch Gorilla Glass Infinity Edge display, powered by 1.5GHz dual core processor, 13MP camera and a 720pixel HD.

10. HP: The HP’s Android Slate 7 will debut in the UK in May at £200¬+VAT. This lovely tablet has 7-inch screen, 1GB RAM and runs on Androids Jelly Bean OS.

11. Fujitsu: The Fujitsu Stylistic S01 is designed very simple with the older people in mind by making the UI very easy to use. It has water and dust resistance ability. This Android Ice Cream Sandwich device has a 4-inch screen, 1.4GHz one- core processor, 8MP camera and a 4GB expandable memory.

12. Dell: The Dell’s Project Ophelia will be an Android-powered 3-inch dongle that can be plugged into any HDMI port of any TV or monitor and it will deliver all the functions of your traditional PC. This is a 3-inch laptop that runs on Android 4.1.2 Jelly bean with 1.6GHz dual-core A9 processor. It comes with an attractive price of £70 by bringing your PC to the pocket.

13. Asus: The Asus Padfone Infinity was designed to bridge gap between smartphone and tablets. The device combines a 5-inch high-end Android smartphone with a 10.1-inch docking station. The smartphone is fitted with a Full HD 1,080 x 1,920 resolutions which is optimised by a 1,920 x 1, 200 tablet dock station. The dock station equally provides the smartphone with a secondary source of battery life.

14. Acer: The Acer Liquid Z2 is a mid-range smartphone running on Android Jelly bean with a 3.5-inch screen and single processor. This phone is for people who are new to the smartphone world or can be used as an alternative phone.

In conclusion this year’s MWC was very exciting and we can’t wait for the entire gadget to hit the market as we prepare for next year’s event.
